THE ROOT "ALTER" REFERS TO "OTHER"
ALTRUIST - person who is more interested in the benefit and welfare of others than in his own.
TO ALTERNATE - to take one and skip one
ALTERNATE (adj) - other possible ,one who substitute for another.
ALTERNATIVE - a choice that can be used instead of something else
ALTERATION - the action of changing something, a change.
ALTERCATION - a verbal dispute ,a noisy argument or disagreement ( because of having other ideas ,plans or opinions than those of the person on the other side of the argument)
ALTER-EGO - alter means other , and ego means I , that is other I or others elf. It refers to someone with whom you are close to such an extent that you both do many thing in the same manner like thinking, reacting, temperament, almost mirror image of each other, one’s other self.

EGO -The latin root "ego" means "I" or one's concept of(about) oneself.
AN EGOIST -Who always think about "Me First"."I" is the greatest concern in an egoist's mind,believe in self advancement and supremely selfish.
EGOTIST -a person who talks and thinks too much about oneself (self exaltation)
EGOCENTRIC -one who is excessively fixate on his own desires, needs and interest,who is utterly involved with oneself ,self-centered.It is an extreme form of egoist.
EGOMANIAC -a person who carry egoism(self exaltation) to such an extreme that his needs,desires and interest have become a morbid obsession, a mania.
EGO-TRIP -this is an activity done for one's own satisfaction and pleasure to make oneself feel important than others.
THE EGOIST OR EGOTIST IS OBNOXIOUS ,
THE EGOCENTRIC IS INTOLERABLE AND
THE EGOMANIAC IS DANGEROUS AND SLIGHTLY MAD.
EGOCENTRIC IS BOTH A NOUN AND AN ADJECTIVE
